Entalpa vs ChatPRD
ChatPRD produces a document a person reads. Entalpa produces a structure an agent queries. Both start from 'describe what you want'; they end somewhere different.
What ChatPRD is
An AI writing tool for product managers: PRDs, user stories, technical specs, OKRs and go-to-market briefs from short prompts, with real-time coaching and CPO-level review of drafts. It integrates with Notion, Slack, Linear, Confluence, Google Docs and GitHub, ships customisable team templates, and reports 100,000+ product managers having produced 750,000+ documents. Pricing is a free tier of three chats, Pro at $15 per month and Teams at $29 per seat.
What ChatPRD does well
- The coaching is the product and it is good — it pushes back on a thin brief the way a strong PM would.
- Enormous proven adoption, which for a writing tool is most of the argument.
- Integrations where product managers already work: Notion, Confluence, Linear, Slack.
- Cheap, and the free tier is enough to know whether you like it.
Where the two differ
Prose versus objects
A PRD is paragraphs. Entalpa stores stakeholders, stories and requirements as separate objects with links between them, which is what lets an agent ask for one requirement rather than parse a document.
No MCP surface
ChatPRD writes into the tools people read. Entalpa serves over MCP, so the coding agent reads the requirements directly instead of being pasted a document.
Nothing is locked
A document has no notion of a line the model may not touch. A locked requirement is filtered out before generation.
Which one fits
Pick ChatPRD if
Your bottleneck is writing and pressure-testing product documents for humans. ChatPRD is better at that than we are, and cheaper.
Pick Entalpa if
The document keeps getting written and the agent keeps ignoring it, or requirements need to be traceable rather than well-phrased.
Questions this raises
Is Entalpa a ChatPRD for engineers?
The audiences overlap but the artifact does not. ChatPRD's output is a document to align people. Entalpa's is a structured, traceable, lockable requirement set an agent reads over MCP.
Can I use both?
Yes, and it is a reasonable split: draft and socialise in ChatPRD, then hold the parts the build has to honour in a structured store the agent can read.
Try it against whatever you are using now
Connect Entalpa to the agent you already run, point it at a real project, and see whether a locked requirement set changes anything. Free to start, no card, and reading or writing your project over MCP never spends credits.
